Building for a Permitted Use?
Health-permitted builds follow a different path than our standard orders. The permitting process involves your county health department — we provide the schematics and build expertise, but the application and approval process is between you and your county.
Projects submitted for county approval require a permitting consult before your build begins. Before booking, please confirm you have gathered the following from your local health department:
- Your county's health permit application (downloaded or requested)
- Required NSF certifications for your equipment
- Countertop material requirements for your county
- Sink size and compartment requirements
- Any specific plumbing hookup specs
If you haven't researched your county's requirements yet, that's ok — the inquiry form will walk you through what to gather. Just know that we can't schedule your consult until you have that info ready.
RidgeCraft is a woodworking and fabrication business. We are not permitting consultants, health code specialists, or regulatory advisors. Our role is to build your equipment to your specifications.
We can support your process in these limited ways:
- Provide build schematics and plumbing diagrams upon request ($300)
- Accommodate specific construction requirements documented by your health department
- Modify designs to meet stated requirements, provided they are submitted in writing before your order is placed
The following are solely the responsibility of the customer. RidgeCraft will not perform, research, or advise on any of the items below:
- Contacting your local or state health department
- Researching applicable health codes or equipment standards for your jurisdiction
- Determining whether a specific build configuration will be approved
- Submitting applications or documentation to any regulatory agency on your behalf
- Following up with health departments regarding approval status
- Making design changes after an order is placed due to permitting requirements — change order fees may apply
The $300 schematic fee covers drafting of your build schematics and plumbing diagrams. This is a separate fee from your build deposit — it covers the design and documentation work regardless of whether you move forward with a build order.
Once your permit is approved and you're ready to order, your build follows standard Semi-Custom (starting at $1,500) or Custom Elite (starting at $3,500) pricing. Payment is 45% deposit, 35% at production, and 20% at completion. Your estimate will reflect any permitting-specific specs like NSF-certified equipment or custom plumbing layouts.
The permitting process timeline depends entirely on your county — approval can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. Once approved, Semi-Custom builds take 8–10 weeks from deposit; Custom Elite builds take 12–16 weeks from deposit.
Ready to get the process started? Fill out our permitting inquiry form — it takes about 5 minutes. After you submit, you'll be redirected to schedule your permitting consult, and we'll send a confirmation email with the scheduling link in case you need it later.
We'll reach out within one business day to discuss your project.
